THE WINE CLUB - no matter your level of cork dork; if you’re a connoisseur or humble fan; this is an inclusive community for anyone who simply enjoys #goodgrapesgoodcompany.

We are a brother and sister duo who in 2021, founded Little Betty’s - a neighbourhood cocktail and wine bar in the heart of our hometown, Kiama. In that short time, we have had incredible access to some phenomenal wine and now we want to share them with you in ways that go beyond our wine list.
The Wine Club is your access all areas to a wide array of Australia’s (and beyond) best grapes, curated lovingly by us, Christina and Paul Paterno.
We host a variety of EVENTS, POP UPS, RETAIL, TASTINGS, and deliver you TRAVEL TIPS, DISCOUNTS, RECIPES, all with the one aim of fostering a COMMUNITY of wine lovers.
On that note (and most importantly) The Wine Club is a community… a place where we can gather and connect - in person or virtually. It started in Kiama but we hope it will extend far beyond, to the vineyards of every winemaker we highlight, and to your homes… we can’t wait to connect with you and fill your hearts (and mouths) with the most delicious wines out there.
Love,
Christina and Paul

THE WINE THAT STARTED IT ALL: Let me paint you a picture, we're in the small town of Portofino, Italy, it's the summer of 2017, Aperitivo Hour to be more precise and we stumbled across this small wine bar called “Winter Rose”. There were only about 4 tables out the front of this tiny wine bar and they were right on the water's edge. The owner, who was working by herself, fixed us a table and explained that during the off peak seasons she’d travel around Italy and source very limited small batch wines that she loved and wanted to showcase at her wine bar during the summer. After leaving it up to her to pour us one of her favourites, she came back with a Vermentino from the area of Liguria (that we happened to be in). I remember drinking this wine with the water lapping at the break wall next to us, tasting the saltiness, the mineral rich citrus flavours and thinking how special that moment was with that setting we were in, drinking something that someone had picked and made by hand on hills around us that have been cultivated for hundreds of years... and that was the moment that really just started it.

BEST WAY TO START A MEAL: I can’t go past a dirty gin martini whilst opening my favourite bottle to drink with the food that I’m cooking.

THE WINE THAT STARTED IT ALL: 2011 Gunderloch Jean Baptiste Riesling Kabinett

I had been working at a wine bar in Sydney for about a year or so at the time, and was steadily learning more about (*read:drinking more) wine.

One night after a busy service, I was at Love, Tilly Devine in Darlinghurst with my then restaurant manager and friend, who ordered me a glass of German Riesling and a chèvre cheese for the table. Until that very moment, I had always thought of Riesling as an old lady's wine (granted, I would never have admitted that anywhere near my place of work, or within earshot of the people I worked with).

I don't know if it was the wine, the cheese, the wine AND the cheese, but I distinctly remember thinking that this was what wine wankers banged on about when wine wankers were banging on.

I've loved Riesling (and wine) ever since.

BEST WAY TO START A MEAL: Dirty Vodka Martini/ Negroni/ Glass of Riesling!

... The La Violetta U Rok Dots on the Betty's wine list would also be an incredible way to get the ball to roll.

Favorite wine region in Australia: Margaret River, WA

WINE REGION ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD YOU'D MOST LIKE TO VISIT: Loire Valley, France

FAVOURITE WINE CURRENTLY ON THE WINE LIST AT LITTLE BETTY'S: 2023 Timo Mayer Sangiovese, Yarra Valley

IT'S YOUR DAY OFF; WHAT ARE YOU POURING AND WHAT TIME ARE YOU POURING IT? Riesling in the am, Grenache in the pm.
